What is a “Psalmscat”?

IThe very first "psalmscat"! In choosing a name for my blog, I chose a name that is near and dear to our family and was thus used for my business: Psalmscat Studio. What would make this name: “psalms” (like the book in the Bible) and “cat” (meow) so cherished by our family? Many years ago, when my children were very young, we rescued a lovable feline from, what surely could have been, an early demise at the local  animal shelter. On the whole ride home, surrounded by ecstatic children, he purred and purred and PURRED. Unfazed by the surrounding excitement, he was very content with his new destiny, which; in his simple cat mind, was a van full of loud children to waters unknown.  It seemed rather appropriate when someone piped in, “he’s making a joyful noise to the Lord”and “Psalms” was forever immortalized.

Psalms 95:1 says, “Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.”

Psalms lived up to his namesake and while, he is no longer a part of our family in the flesh, his memory lives on as a constant reminder for me to always be joyful. In a world much crazier than that van ride home many years ago, true joy is only possible with a personal relationship with our Heavenly Father.  Simply put, I want to be a “Psalmscat”.

I am blessed beyond what I deserve with a blended family of six beautiful children and a husband who is my best earthly friend.  Together we have two special needs sons (which is how we met, but that’s saved for another post) and a life that is never dull.  I have and continue to learn amazing things from God, my family and friends, situations, and sometimes very unexpected sources that I decided to open the windows of my life to whoever has the curiosity to take a peek. And always feel free to comment, I love to learn more!

With all that said…here we go!
